Quad Industries Joins Forces in the VLAIO Plug ‘n Patch Project to Revolutionize Personalized Medicine

Quad Industries has proudly participated in the innovative Plug ‘n Patch project, which aims to develop advanced medical plasters. This project, one of four ‘personalised medicine’ projects supported by VLAIO with a budget of around EUR 16 million, seeks to optimize care for individual patients with chronic diseases.

The Plug ‘n Patch patches are designed as wearable sensors that collect quality data from patients. This data plays a crucial role in improving care for conditions such as heart and respiratory disorders, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy. For example, epilepsy patients will be able to wear a patch behind their ear, allowing them to be closely monitored even at home and receive the right treatments faster.

Quad Industries is collaborating in this project with the Flemish company Byteflies and other industrial partners such as Nitto and Henkel. Key research institutions such as KU Leuven, UHasselt, and UGent are serving as research partners who will validate the developed patches on their patients.

The project, which started on April 1, 2020, and was completed by March 31, 2024, promises to make revolutionary strides in personalised medicine and significantly improve patients’ quality of life. At Quad Industries, we believe in the power of collaboration and innovation and look forward to working with our partners to make a meaningful impact on healthcare. As an innovative player, we continue to play an important role in such projects.
